Dear Kirkland SDA Church family,
|
|
It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you of a significant transition in my ministry journey. After much prayer, reflection, and attempting to weigh many factors, God has opened all the right doors for me to accept a new ministry role at Gem State Adventist Academy beginning this school year.
|
|
Many months ago, I received a call from GSAA requesting that I keep them in mind as I look forward in my ministry. At the time, they had no open position to offer me, so I found it strange, shrugged it off, and moved on with my life. I prayed about it here and there finding my mind was repeatedly tugged back to the idea. It wasn’t until less than a month ago a real position was placed on the table. It seemed like bad timing—'I haven’t even been here a whole year yet,’ I thought. But again, the tug on my heart was strong, and I found myself considering it more and more seriously. Though it may seem inconvenient, I do believe God is drawing me back to GSAA for a purpose and to serve a community that I have a soft spot for in my heart.

My decision to transition to Gem State Adventist Academy was guided by a deep sense of calling to serve in a different capacity. As you have witnessed, my heart for ministry is in working with kids. I am excited about the opportunity to be completely devoted to the spiritual growth and development of the students at the academy and to support their journey in faith.
|
|
I have several upcoming commitments here in this church that I intend to keep. The biggest of these is my commitment to baptize several of your kids at the International Pathfinder Camporee. I will still be attending this trip, traveling with the group to the Camporee, and able to baptize the students I have been working with all year. It is after Camporee that I will make my transition to GSAA, just in time for the school year to begin on August 11.

My time serving as associate pastor at Kirkland SDA Church has been incredibly meaningful and enriching. I have grown so much in confidence and experience because of your patient encouragement, support, and prayers. I can only imagine the complicated nature of being considered a pastoral training ground church for this conference, having to watch young pastors come and go so often. But I want to encourage you with the fact that though soon I may not be here day after day as I have been this past year, this will certainly not be the last we see of one another. The relationships made here, however long they last in this life, are being made for eternity. For that I am very grateful, as well as for your willingness to open your hearts and families to include me during this first year of “real adulting” in my life.

While I am saddened to leave this community so soon, I am confident that God has a purpose and plan in the opportunities set before us. I believe that this transition is not a goodbye but rather a continuation of our shared journey in following Jesus. I am grateful for the friendships and memories we have created together and look forward to staying connected with you from afar. (I am big fan of writing letters, so if anyone would like a pen pal, I volunteer!)

I ask for your prayers during this time of transition, both for me and for those involved in finding the next pastor to be blessed by your community.
|

Thank you once again for allowing me the privilege of serving alongside you at Kirkland SDA Church and trusting me to be a mentor for your kids. It has been an honor to be called Pastor Aurora here!

Church Fourth of July Barbecue
We will have our 2nd annual Fourth of July barbecue on July 27th after the church service. We will need church members to bring propane grills, canopies, lots of veggie burgers, veggie dogs, condiments, and picnic sides like: potato salad, macaroni salad, veggies, fruits, and deserts. WA Conference Women’s Retreat is at Sunset Lake Camp September 20-22 with a focus on prayer. Guest speaker is Randy Maxwell. Please contact Anita Dorland if you are interested in reserving a space with the Kirkland ladies. Space is limited. Weekend $75/pp, Sabbath only $55/pp.

We are grateful to our church family for helping us reach and exceed our AV fundraising goal of $50,000. The final amount raised was $52,139.00, which will allow our AV team to upgrade to the best possible equipment. We pray that God continues to bless us, enabling our church to keep growing. Shut-Ins: In an effort to provide better care for our members, we are asking your help in locating members of the Kirkland church who are not able to come to Sabbath services. We do not always know when someone is ill or disabled. Our pastors and elders would love to visit with these valuable members.
